Questions

Common questions

What are the current rates?
From 22 September 2026: individuals 5% for listed shares held 365 days or less and 3.75% if held longer; institutions 10%. Between 17 July and 21 September 2026 individuals paid 10% and 7.5%; before that 7.5% and 5%.
One report says 3.5%, not 3.75%. Which is right?
A ShareSansar report of the cabinet decision printed 3.5% for long-term gains; later reports of the Gazette notice give 3.75%, which the calculator uses. Your contract note shows the rate actually applied.
Who collects the tax?
It is deducted at settlement, so individual investors generally do not file it separately.
Is it a final tax?
The FY 2083/84 budget made capital gains tax on listed shares a final tax for individuals.
